Within 60 days of 3 April 2025 each agency head retains or designates a Chief AI Officer (an existing official such as the CIO, CDO or CTO may serve if they have significant AI expertise), at SES, SL or ST level in CFO Act agencies or GS-14 or above elsewhere, with authority to do the job and access to the Deputy Secretary; OMB is told within 30 days of any change or vacancy.
