To prepare for the transition to new public-key algorithms, agencies support Transport Layer Security version 1.3 or a successor version as soon as practicable and no later than 2 January 2030, under requirements issued by 1 December 2025 by the Director of NSA for National Security Systems and by the Director of OMB for other systems. As replaced by EO 14306; the original text gave the Secretary of Defense the NSS role and a 180-day deadline.
