Title II: Cybersecurity research and development – US Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2014 (Public Law 113-274)

US Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2014 (Public Law 113-274) 201c: The National Science Foundation reviews cybersecurity test beds and may fund additional ones, evaluating their effectiveness

What does 201c require?

Within one year of enactment NSF's Director, with OSTP, reviews existing cybersecurity test beds and assesses whether enough are available for the strategic plan's research needs, submitting the review to the named committees; if more are needed, the Director, with the Commerce and Homeland Security Secretaries, may fund universities or non-profit research bodies to establish test beds robust enough to reproduce real-time attacks and defences at the scale and complexity of real networks, and evaluates the grants' effectiveness within two years of the review and periodically thereafter.
