What does ENTRY require?

Importers of record must make entry and complete it with an entry summary declaring value, classification, duty rate and other information (19 U.S.C. 1484), which may be transmitted through a CBP-authorised EDI system. ACE was designated a CBP-authorised EDI system from 1 November 2015 and became the sole authorised system for electronic entry and entry summary filings for most entry types (consumption, informal, warehouse, temporary importation, in-bond and others) from 23 July 2016, and for drawback and duty deferral from 8 July 2017, replacing the legacy Automated Commercial System. Unless filed at the time of entry, the entry summary with estimated duties is due within 10 working days after entry (19 CFR 142.12(b)).
