United States CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and FTC CAN-SPAM Rule (16 CFR Part 316) 7704a4: s 7704(a)(4) Honour opt-outs within 10 business days and never sell or transfer opted-out addresses

After a recipient opts out, the sender and anyone acting for it must stop sending commercial email within the scope of the request more than 10 business days after receiving it, must not help others send it by supplying the address, and must not sell, lease, exchange or otherwise transfer the address except to comply with the law, unless the recipient later gives affirmative consent.
