In time for the authority to complete its assessment before the certificate's validity ends, the manufacturer applies for a new certificate or for extension of the existing one; after a positive assessment the authority issues a new certificate or extends validity by a further three years, and issues a new certificate where notified changes have been positively re-assessed.
