Documentation is provided in two parts: (a) the formal documentation package with the Annex 1 material, supplied at submission and used by the authority as the basic reference, and (b) additional material the manufacturer may retain but must open for inspection at type approval. The manufacturer keeps material opened for inspection available for at least 10 years after production of the vehicle type is definitively discontinued (the authority keeps the formal package for the same period).
