UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) Reg.18: Regulation 18: Subscriber directories: information, choice, reverse search consent and corrections

An individual subscriber's personal data may go into a public directory (printed or electronic, including directory enquiry services) only after the subscriber has been told free of charge the directory's purposes and given the chance to decide which relevant data is included; where the directory allows look-up of details from a telephone number alone, the subscriber must be told of that facility and give express consent. A corporate subscriber's data must be left out if it has told the directory producer so. Individual subscribers must be able, without charge, to verify, correct or withdraw their data at any time, with a request applying to editions produced after the producer receives it.
