UK Companies Act 2006
Part 10 Chapters 1 and 2: Directors (appointment, notification, identity verification) and the general duties – UK Companies Act 2006

UK Companies Act 2006 167G-167M: Notify the registrar of changes in directors within 14 days; no director acts until identity verified

What does 167G-167M require?

A company must give notice to the registrar of a person becoming or ceasing to be a director, specifying the date, within 14 days, with a new director's required information and (for an individual) a statement that the person has consented to act and that their identity is verified (sections 167G to 167H). An individual must not act as a director unless their identity is verified under section 1110A, and the company must ensure that no unverified individual acts as a director; both commit an offence if they do (section 167M, in force from the dates the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 commencement regulations fix). The registrar notifies each new director of their registration (section 1079B).
