Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006
Parts VII and VIII: Registration of workplaces, health and welfare (sections 40 to 55) – Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006

Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006 40-41: Registration of workplaces: notice to the Commissioner with the Schedule 3 particulars at least one month before occupying or using premises as a workplace (or within a month on taking over premises without changing the work), registration and a Schedule 4 certificate on payment of the fee, renewable every three years, the notice to set up a safety committee within six months, and offences for occupying unregistered premises

What does 40-41 require?

At least a month before starting to occupy or use premises as a workplace, a person serves the Commissioner a notice giving the Schedule 3 particulars; occupation may begin sooner where the Commissioner issues a certificate of registration or where the person takes over premises from someone else with the work unchanged in nature, serving the notice as soon as practicable and within a month. On receipt of the notice and payment of the fee the Commissioner registers the workplace and issues a certificate of registration in the Schedule 4 form, bearing the Department's embossed stamp and renewable every three years; within six months of occupying a registered workplace the occupier is served notice requiring a safety committee where one applies; existing certificates were exchanged for stamped ones at commencement; and occupying or using premises as a workplace contrary to these sections is an offence with daily penalties while it continues.
