Solvency II
Pillar 1: Minimum Capital Requirement – Solvency II

Solvency II Art.128-129: Arts 128, 129 Hold eligible basic own funds covering the MCR, calculated quarterly

What does Art.128-129 require?

Undertakings must hold eligible basic own funds covering the MCR, a simple auditable linear function of technical provisions, premiums, capital-at-risk, deferred tax and expenses (net of reinsurance) calibrated to 85 percent Value-at-Risk over one year, bounded between 25 and 45 percent of the SCR and not below the absolute floor (EUR 2.7 million non-life, 4 million for liability, credit and suretyship classes and life, 3.9 million reinsurance, 1.3 million captive reinsurance). It is calculated at least quarterly and reported, with an explanation where the corridor bites.
