Saudi Arabia SDAIA AI Ethics Principles (Version 2.0, 2025) 5.PD: Reliability and Safety in Plan and Design: design for uncertainty, robust operation across inputs, reliability standards, documentation and stakeholder sign-off at critical decisions

What does 5.PD require?

The system is designed to withstand the uncertainty, instability and volatility it may meet and to work robustly with different inputs and situations so that unintended harm and failures against unforeseen events are prevented; standards and protocols for assessing reliability secure the safety of the algorithm and its outputs and sustain public trust; documentation standards track the system's evolution, foresee risks and fix vulnerabilities; and all critical decision points in the design are signed off by the relevant stakeholders so they are accountable.
