OSHA Safety and Health Regulations for Construction (29 CFR Part 1926) 1926.432: 1926.432 Environmental deterioration of equipment

Conductors and equipment may not be placed in damp or wet locations, where exposed to liquids, gases, vapors, fumes or other agents that deteriorate them, or where exposed to excessive temperatures, unless they are identified for use in that operating environment. Busways, control equipment and utilization equipment approved only for dry locations must be protected against weather damage while the building is under construction. Metal raceways and cable armor, cable sheathing, boxes and cabinets, fittings, couplings and elbows, and supports with their hardware must be made of materials suited to the environment where they are installed, as protection against corrosion. On a construction site, where roofs and walls may not yet be closed in, this means checking that dry-location panels and equipment are covered or relocated, and that fittings and supports chosen for outdoor, wet or corrosive exposures are rated for them.
