Oregon OSHA Construction Rules (OAR 437 Division 3) 437-003-0134a: Assess workplace hazards, select protective equipment that fits each employee, and keep all equipment sanitary and reliable

What does 437-003-0134a require?

Wherever employees meet hazardous processes or environments, chemical, radiological or mechanical hazards capable of injury through absorption, inhalation or contact, the employer assesses the workplace to determine whether hazards are or are likely to be present that require personal protective or other protective equipment; if so it selects, and has each affected employee use, equipment that protects against the identified hazards, of safe design and construction and worn so its protective properties are fully used, tells each affected employee what has been selected, and chooses equipment that fits each of them properly. Equipment, whether employer-provided or employee-owned (whose adequacy, maintenance and sanitation the employer still assures), is supplied, used and kept clean and dependable, and anything defective or damaged is withdrawn.
