Part 3: kilojoule display at standard food outlets (sections 23 to 30) – NSW Food Regulation 2025

NSW Food Regulation 2025 28: Place kilojoule figures on every menu, price tag and label, next to the item name or price and on the drive-through board, consistently across items; place the daily intake statement on each menu, display area and drive-through board

What does 28 require?

Each item's kilojoule figure must appear on every menu that shows its name or price, on each price or identifying tag or label, next to or near its name or price in a way that clearly attaches to it, and, with a drive-through, on the drive-through menu board or a separate board beside it that customers see before or at the ordering point. Placement must be consistent with neighbouring items. The 8,700 kJ statement goes on every menu listing standard food items, in every display area, cabinet or stand where items carry price or identifying tags (conspicuous to someone looking at them), and on the drive-through board, in each case near the items.
