After receiving a notice of changes the purchaser may rescind if the change is one the purchaser would not have contracted had the purchaser known of it and by which the purchaser would be materially prejudiced (section 66ZO). The vendor must serve a copy of the registered plan and any document registered with it before completion, the purchaser need not complete earlier than 21 days after service, and the purchaser may rescind for a material inaccuracy on the same test (section 66ZP). A notice of rescission must be in writing, signed by each purchaser or their solicitor, served on the vendor or the vendor's solicitor within 14 days after receiving the notice of changes or the registered plan (section 66ZQ); the consequences follow section 66ZR, and the purchaser may instead claim compensation under the implied term.
