An entity to which a code of practice prescribed by regulation applies (designated agencies, adoption service providers, providers of specialised substitute residential care, or other prescribed entities) complies with it; the code may set steps and outcomes for implementing the Standards and, for designated agencies and adoption providers, steps to obtain and keep accreditation (s 8DA(1) to (8)). A provider of specialised substitute residential care completes the code's self-assessment within the stated time (maximum 10 penalty units) (s 8DA(4), (5)). Non-compliance is grounds for investigation and a compliance notice (s 8DA(9)).
