Nigeria NITDA National Cloud Technical Guideline 2026
Section 10.4: Backup, disaster recovery and cross-border transfers – Nigeria NITDA National Cloud Technical Guideline 2026

Nigeria NITDA National Cloud Technical Guideline 2026 10.4.IV.a: Keep primary and secondary sites in Nigeria in different geopolitical zones for Level 2 and above, and never move Level 4 data abroad

What does 10.4.IV.a require?

Where data is at Level 2 or higher, the production site and the disaster recovery site are both inside Nigeria, in two different geopolitical zones of the country or far enough apart to survive localised disruption, consistent with the National Sovereign Cloud Policy. Level 4 (classified) data is never stored or transferred outside Nigeria, and all backups of Level 3 and Level 4 data are kept exclusively within Nigeria.
