New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 7.3.8.C.01: 7.3.8.C.01 Immediate containment steps when a data spill occurs

When classified information is placed onto a system that is not accredited to handle it, the following actions must be taken: 1. seek an ITSM's advice immediately; 2. isolate or segregate the data spill and/or the system affected; 3. personnel must not delete the more highly classified information unless an ITSM has specifically authorised it.
