Chapter 6: Information security monitoring – New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM)

New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 6.2.4.C.01: 6.2.4.C.01 Vulnerability analysis strategy for systems

Agencies should put in place a vulnerability analysis strategy that includes: watching publicly available information about newly found vulnerabilities in application software and operating systems; considering automated tools for controlled vulnerability assessments of systems; manually checking system configurations so only permitted services run and disallowed services are blocked; applying security checklists for common applications and operating systems; and looking into any significant incidents on agency systems.
