Chapter 19: Gateway security – New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM)

New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 19.1.13.C.01: 19.1.13.C.01 Operating gateways between different security domains

For every gateway joining networks in different security domains, agencies must ensure the gateway: includes a firewall of a suitable assurance level that filters and logs traffic trying to enter it; saves its event logs to a separate, secure log server; has all physical access to its components authenticated, logged and audited; and has every control re-tested for effectiveness after any configuration change.

  • ISM-0639 Evaluated firewalls between security domains
  • ISM-1037 Gateway testing after changes and six-monthly

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
