New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 16.3.5.C.01: Controlled, individual and minimal use of privileged accounts

What does 16.3.5.C.01 require?

Agencies must: make sure strong change management practices are in place; make sure privileged account use is controlled and accountable; make sure system administrators are given an individual account and always use it for their administration work; keep the number of privileged accounts as low as possible; and permit privileged accounts to be used only for administrative work.
