Chapter 16: Authentication and Access Controls – New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM)

New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 16.1.41.C.02: 16.1.41.C.02 Screen and session lock on all systems

Agencies should: set up systems with a session or screen lock; have the lock engage after at most 10 minutes of user inactivity, or when the user activates it manually; have the lock hide all information on the screen completely; make sure the screen does not turn off or go into power saving before the lock has engaged; require the system user to authenticate again to unlock; and prevent system users from disabling the lock.
