New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 14.1.9.C.01: 14.1.9.C.01 Maintain SOE specifications, configurations and patching

For all servers and workstations, agencies must ensure that: each platform has an agreed technical specification with defined controls; a standard configuration is produced and kept current for every version and type of operating system; system users are unable to install or disable software unless approved; and patching of the operating system and installed software is kept up to date.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 2 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • ISM-0382 Preventing removal of approved applications
  • ISM-1592 Blocking user installation of unapproved applications

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
