A consumer may designate an authorized agent, including through technology such as a link, browser setting, browser extension or global device setting, to opt out on the consumer's behalf of targeted advertising, sale or significant profiling. A controller must comply with an agent's opt-out where it can verify, with commercially reasonable effort, the consumer's identity and the agent's authority.
