A project management framework should cover the policies, standards, procedures, processes and activities that manage projects from initiation to closure. Detailed plans should exist for all IT projects, setting scope, activities, milestones, deliverables for each phase and staff roles; key documents (feasibility, cost-benefit and business case analyses, project plan, implementation plan) should be maintained and approved by business and IT management; and a process should identify, assess, treat and monitor project risks throughout the life cycle.
