Section 2.7: The seven AI principles – Malaysia National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (2024)

Malaysia National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (2024) P7: Pursuit of human benefit and happiness: human-centred values, no malicious use and human oversight (HITL, HOTL, HIC)

What does P7 require?

AI systems should respect human-centred values, pursue human benefit, raise the quality of people's lives and add to their happiness, and must not be used for malicious purposes or to manipulate how users interact with and perceive them. Human oversight keeps AI from undermining human autonomy, through governance arrangements of three kinds: human-in-the-loop, where a person can intervene in every decision cycle; human-on-the-loop, where people intervene at design time and monitor operation; and human-in-command, where people oversee the whole activity and choose if, when and how the system is used.
