An electronic writing or signature has the same legal effect as one on paper provided the person who made it can be identified and it is organised and stored in a way that preserves its integrity; storage means recording on a medium that keeps the data safe and accessible at all times and allows it to be copied or extracted. An electronic document is admissible as evidence with the same probative force as a paper document on the same two conditions. A writing that fails them is only a beginning of written proof (Articles 4 and 13). Official electronic documents need a Council of Ministers decree (Article 8).
