Japan AI Guidelines HP.VII: D-VII. Content authentication and provenance

Where technically feasible, develop and deploy reliable content authentication and provenance mechanisms, such as watermarking or other techniques, so that users can identify AI-generated content. Code of Conduct detail: provenance data should include an identifier of the service or model that created the content but need not include user information; strive to develop tools or APIs that let users check whether content was created with the organisation's advanced system; collaborate and invest in research to advance the field; and consider labelling or disclaimers so users know they are interacting with an AI system.
