IWA 48:2024 4.6: Adopt the KPI measurement framework: report the profile indicators and build a customised KPI set on the common base

What does 4.6 require?

Standardised, quantitative data and assessable qualitative information are what build trust in the ESG field, and high-quality data against KPIs let the organisation know and report where it stands, set goals, decide well, draw investment, handle risk and opportunity, bring its people and other parties with it and satisfy compliance demands while driving change inside and out. Data increasingly arrive from digital sources, allowing near real-time KPI tracking; standardised data give a common language with interested parties and can lift an organisation's standing with investors and lenders. The IWA's KPI set is a starting point: the organisation goes on to develop data subsets and customised KPIs fitted to its own circumstances, industry and sector and aligned with its ESG goals. So that its data can be read in context and compared with peers, it reports the profile indicators: headcount in full-time equivalents, annual income, country and region, climate type and industry classification. The pillar KPIs themselves sit under the environmental, social and governance clauses.
