Service management practices – ITIL 4

ITIL 4 5.2.3: 5.2.3 Capacity and performance management

Makes sure services perform as agreed and expected (performance measuring the results achieved, whether by a person, team, practice, service or system) and meet present and future demand economically. It does so through analysis of service performance and capacity (researching and monitoring current performance, and modelling capacity and performance) and through planning (analysing capacity requirements, forecasting demand and planning resources, and planning performance improvements). It gives planning information on demand and performance plus modelling and forecasting tools; drives improvement from performance data; manages what customers and users expect by explaining constraints and capabilities; designs new and changed services for the best performance, capacity and scalability; checks that components obtained or built meet performance needs; and supports delivery with targets, measures, measurement and reporting.
