Supporting technologies, such as automated tools and training courses, are evaluated and selected: graphical presentation tools, data analysis tools, databases and data collection tools are commonly needed, and this can involve modifying or extending existing tools and calibrating and testing them, sometimes leading to an update of the planning information. They are then acquired and deployed; where they form the information management infrastructure, access rights to the data are implemented according to organisational security policies and any further confidentiality constraints.
