When the organisation adapts the standard's processes, it records the circumstances that drive the tailoring (such as the life cycle model, the organisation's own policies and procedures, the acquirer's and other stakeholders' needs, the system's criticality and risk, and the technology and resources available); for system properties that are critical it takes into account the life cycle structures the standard or other sources recommend; it obtains input from the parties the tailoring affects; it makes the tailoring decisions through the Decision Management process so that the process purposes and outcomes are still met; and it selects the processes to tailor and deletes the outcomes, activities or tasks that are being dropped, recording the result.
