Clause 4 and Annex A: Conformance and tailoring – ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017

ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017 4: Declare the conformance claim: full conformance to outcomes or to tasks, or tailored conformance

What does 4 require?

An organisation that claims to follow the standard says which processes its claim covers and which criterion it uses. Claiming full conformance by outcomes means every outcome of each declared process is shown to be achieved; claiming full conformance by tasks means every activity and task of each declared process is shown to be performed. Where the processes are selected or changed so that neither full claim fits, the tailoring process of Annex A is applied, the tailored text is declared, and conformance is then shown against the tailored set of outcomes, activities and tasks. The claim states the criterion chosen; an acquirer and supplier may instead point to compliance with their agreement.
