Clause 6.1: Agreement processes – ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017

ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017 6.1.1: Acquisition process: obtain a product or service that meets the acquirer's requirements

What does 6.1.1 require?

The acquirer prepares for the acquisition by defining what it needs and the strategy for getting it, prepares and issues a request for supply, advertises the acquisition and chooses one or more suppliers, establishes and maintains an agreement with the supplier, monitors the agreement while it runs, and accepts the product or service when it meets the agreement; the acquirer also honours the obligations the agreement places on it. Outcomes achieved: a request for supply exists, suppliers are chosen, an agreement is in place, the delivered product or service is accepted as meeting the agreement, and the acquirer's own obligations are met.
