Transparency is the ability of an organization or system to give interested parties appropriate information about its actions, decisions and properties in a complete, understandable and accessible way; for an AI system this can include its characteristics, performance, limitations, components, procedures, measures, design goals, design choices and assumptions, data sources and labelling protocols. For each identified interested party the organization should analyse the foreseeable benefits and harms tied to transparency, for example whether enough information on the system's capabilities, limitations and constraints is given in a form the party can understand, and whether people know they are dealing with an AI system.
