Investigators stay aware of where their findings are uncertain, treating uncertainty as falling as the quality and quantity of supporting evidence for a hypothesis rise; sometimes one item suffices (a restricted document held by an unauthorised user), sometimes a larger body is needed (a large collection of illegal material). Further guidance is sought from the client where possible (see clause 8).
