The governing body shall ensure top management is measured on achievement of the compliance objectives and shall oversee top management's operation of the CMS. Top management shall allocate adequate and appropriate resources to establish, develop, implement, evaluate, maintain and improve the CMS; ensure timely and effective compliance performance reporting; ensure strategic and operational objectives are aligned with the compliance obligations; establish and maintain accountability mechanisms including disciplinary measures and consequences; and ensure compliance performance is linked to personnel performance appraisal.
