Clause 6.2: Organizational governance – ISO 26000:2010

ISO 26000:2010 6.2.2: Organizational governance: principles and considerations

What does 6.2.2 require?

Organizational governance is how an organization reaches and carries out decisions in order to achieve what it sets out to do. It is the one core subject that is also the vehicle for strengthening the organization's capacity to act responsibly on all the others. Good governance should rest on building the social responsibility principles of clause 4 (accountability, transparency, ethical behaviour, respect for the interests of stakeholders, the rule of law, international norms of behaviour and human rights) into how decisions are made and put into effect. Leadership matters greatly, since leaders who visibly commit to social responsibility shape the culture and move the organization to act on it.
