Guidance to work out the BCMS communication needs through which the organization answers what interested parties need and expect. To communicate well it sets, where suitable, criteria on what to say (which depends on the organization and the circumstances, and for some includes legal or regulatory duties to communicate); when to say it (thresholds can turn communication into an urgent need, and the operating setting can fix how often); to whom (every party needs communication at some point, so for each the triggering changes and the priority are decided); by what means (methods, means and channels chosen beforehand, with fall-backs); and by whom (spokespersons who speak for the organization and named contacts). The BCMS and continuity provisions can be mentioned in newsletters and in briefings to suppliers and customers, and outside communication is made to work both within the awareness programme and during incident response.
