ISO 22002-4:2025 Prerequisite programmes on food safety, Part 4: Food packaging manufacturing 12.2: Chemical contamination: set-off and process chemicals

What does 12.2 require?

Printed and coated materials are handled and stored, as intermediates and as finished goods, so that substances passing to the food contact side by set-off or any other route is reduced to a level the hazard analysis defines as safe for those materials. Chemicals, cleaning materials and lubricants included, are evaluated and controlled to prevent product contamination, and a lubricant that is meant to touch the product is of a grade suited to that use.
