Six principles underpin producing structured information collaboratively: authors produce, control and check their own information, taking approved information from others only by reference, federation or direct exchange; requirements are clearly stated, at high level by interested parties and in detail by the appointing party; each delivery team's approach is considered, together with its capability and capacity, before appointment; a CDE is securely and suitably available to everyone who produces, uses and maintains information; information models are built with technologies that can conform to the standard; and information security processes run over the entire asset life to deal with unauthorised access, loss, corruption, degradation and obsolescence.
