Auditors and audit team leaders should keep raising their competence. They keep it up by taking part in management system audits on a regular basis and through continual professional development, for example further work experience, training, private study, coaching, and attending meetings, seminars and conferences. Those managing the programme should put in place ways of evaluating, on a continuing basis, how auditors and team leaders perform. Development activities should reflect: changing needs of the person and of the organization doing the auditing; developments in how auditing is practised, including the use of technology; relevant standards, guidance and other requirements; changes in disciplines or sectors; and analysis of what auditees and stakeholders say in feedback.
