A metadata schema fixes which metadata identifies, describes and manages records, and each record's metadata comes from an approved schema. They may cover entities such as records, agents, business functions, mandates and relationships, support point-of-capture and process metadata, include business-specific metadata found at appraisal, and let organisations identify and retrieve records, associate them with rules and mandates, agents and activities, and track actions such as changed access or migration. Six classes of metadata may be used: identity, description, use, event plan, event history and relation. Schemas use interoperable formats, are used in system design, reference other controls such as disposition and access rules and, where a jurisdiction requires, follow its authorised schema.
The graph holds this control, the 0 it maps to, and the evidence behind each claim, over MCP and REST.
