At organization level, emissions shall be grouped into six categories: direct emissions and removals; indirect emissions from imported energy; indirect emissions from transport; indirect emissions from products the organization uses; indirect emissions linked to the use of the organization's products; and indirect emissions from anything else. Within every category, emissions that are not biogenic, those that are biogenic and of human origin, and, where quantified, those that are biogenic and not of human origin shall be kept apart (Annex D). Categories should be recorded at facility level and broken down further (Annex B).
