Inside the defined scope, the organization shall identify the environmental aspects linked to what it does and supplies (activities, products and services), both those it controls and those it can only influence, together with the environmental impacts linked to them, looking across the life cycle: obtaining raw materials, design, production, transport and delivery, use, treatment at end of life, and final disposal. It shall identify possible emergency situations, including any with potential environmental impact. In identifying aspects it shall take account of normal and abnormal operating conditions, of change (planned or new developments, and activities, products and services that are new or altered) and of possible emergencies. Using criteria it has set, it shall work out which aspects have, or could have, a significant environmental impact; make its significant aspects known across its levels and functions as appropriate; and keep documented information on its aspects and impacts, the criteria used to judge significance, and which aspects are significant.
