If identifying outputs is needed to meet the requirements of the case, the plan should specify the methods for doing so. If traceability is required, the plan should set out how far it extends and what it covers, including the way outputs that are affected will be picked out. The plan should also say: how traceability requirements from the contract or elsewhere are recognised and written into documented information; which documented information is kept as proof that traceability requirements were met, and how that information is controlled; and the specific requirements and methods by which each output's inspection and test state is made visible. Identification and traceability form part of configuration management, on which ISO 10007 gives guidance.
