Iowa Client Trust Account Rules (Iowa Court Rules Chapter 45) 45.4-4c: Direct the bank to report insufficient-funds presentments on the trust account to the Client Security Commission

What does 45.4-4c require?

The lawyer or firm also directs the institution to notify the Client Security Commission whenever an instrument that is properly payable hits a trust account lacking the funds to cover it. For a dishonoured instrument the report mirrors the overdraft notice sent to the depositor and includes a copy of the instrument if the bank normally provides one; it is sent at the same time as, and within the legal time for, the notice of dishonour. For an instrument the bank honours despite insufficient funds, the report names the institution, the lawyer or firm, the account number, the dates of presentation and payment and the overdraft amount, and is made within five banking days of presentation.
