Section E Conditions of Work and Life of the MNE Declaration (Paragraphs 34-41) covers MNE responsibility for working conditions. Wages + Benefits + Conditions of Work (Paras 34-36): wages + benefits + conditions of work offered by MNEs should be not less favourable to the workers than those offered by comparable employers in the host country. When MNEs operate in developing countries where comparable employers may not exist they should provide the best possible wages + benefits and conditions of work within the framework of government policies. These should be related to the economic position of the enterprise but should be at least adequate to satisfy basic needs of the workers and their families. Where MNEs provide workers with basic amenities such as housing + medical care or food the conditions provided should be of a good standard. Minimum Age (Para 37): when MNEs operate in developing countries they should pay particular attention to compliance with the ILO Minimum Age Convention C138 and the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention C182 + remediate any situations of child labour identified. Safety and Health (Paras 38-41): MNEs should maintain the highest standards of safety and health in conformity with national requirements + bearing in mind their relevant experience within the enterprise as a whole + including information about hazards (chemical + physical + biological + ergonomic + psychosocial). Para 39 cooperation with workers + their representatives + safety committees + government health authorities + sectoral organisations on safety and health. Para 40 examine the causes of industrial safety and health hazards + take measures to improve safety and health + endeavour to make the working environment safe and healthy. Para 41 align with ILO occupational safety and health Conventions and Recommendations (C155 + C161 + C170 + C174 + C187 + C190 + R164 + R175 + R197) + ISO 45001 + ISO 45003.
