ILO-OSH 2001 Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems
Chapter 3 Policy: OSH policy and worker participation (3.1 and 3.2) – ILO-OSH 2001 Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems

ILO-OSH 2001 Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems 3.1.1: A written OSH policy, agreed with workers and their representatives, that fits the organisation, is signed and dated by the most senior accountable person, is communicated and accessible at the workplace, reviewed for suitability and shared with outside parties as appropriate

What does 3.1.1 require?

The employer, after consulting workers and their representatives, puts the OSH policy in writing. It is tailored to the organisation and scaled to its size and activities; brief, plainly worded, dated and given force by the signature or endorsement of the employer or the most senior accountable person; brought to everyone's attention and kept easy to find at the workplace; checked periodically to confirm it still fits; and shared with relevant outside parties where that is appropriate.
